While researching the start date of London News Agency Photos Ltd – LNA – (1908) we had these figures in from the industry directories of Alan Smith owner at Topfoto.
‘The earliest date I have it [LNA] listed is 1952 when it is a t 46 fleet street with 200,000 pictures. “photographs of news events of all kinds date from 1908”. Nothing is certain there. 200,000 is not a lot when in the same year keystone are saying 2 million. Pictorial press which started in 1937 are saying 250,000. Popper 1936 are saying 200,000. A.’
