John Morris, the London picture editor of Life magazine during the second world war, is auctioning prints from his photographic collection in Paris this week. John says: “An imaginative dealer in Paris named Serge Plantureux has created a special auction of the JOHN G. MORRIS PHOTO DIARY, consisting of 230 photographs from my personal collection of prints given to me over the years by photographers. The auction will take place on Saturday April 30 at 3:00 pm at Drouot Montaigne, 15 avenue Montaigne, in Paris. There will be a public exhibition of the photographs April 28-29 and morning of the 30th.
A 200-page fully illustrated catalogue is available for 40 euros or $60 U.S. and online at www.photoceros.com. Estimates for photographs in the sale start at 20 euros for a press release print and go up 10,000 for a unique print by Frank Horvat. Purchasers will get a free catalogue.
