Inside ‘Are you the photographer?’

Press photographer Jeff Wright, who we featured on the PPHP site in 2015  Jeff Wright – my time as a press photographer – 1960’s / 70’s , has completed a book which features stories of his 15 years experience as a press photographer in the 1960’s/70’s –  it’s called ‘Are you the photographer?’

Jeff sent the PPHP a full scan copy but the book is not generally available yet, more on this soon ….

About ‘Are you the photographer’: ‘In 1960, Jeff Wright left his Ruislip secondary modern school aged 16 to join his local newspaper, the Weekly Post, as a trainee in the photographic department. Seven years later, a trained press photographer, he moved on, taking with him two old Kodak photographic paper boxes. Inside were just a few photographs from his time on the Post.
In his 16 years as a photographer, Jeff covered thousands of jobs but he never kept any more photos or negatives. The old photographs in the two Kodak boxes are the only survivors, and they inspired this book – the story of a local press photographer’s working life in the 1960s.’

• Jeff’s book is not on general sale but he will be happy to send PPHP readers a copy on loan or by wetransfer to view  – contact me to arrange this [email protected]
