Dear Will,
I would like to make a contribution to your project and noticed that the photo agency I did an internship with in 1998 is not listed.
The agency is People in Pictures Ltd. run by David George (father and Managing Director) and Steve Bealing (son). As far as I recall they started out with Rex Features in the same building 18 Vine Hill but moved to Great Sutton Street (Barbican tube) later on.
The current state of affairs is that in 2003 they were bought by an IT-Reseller called “MICG” (run by Philip Marcella) who merged with a company called “Logcom Solutions”. The aim was to use the archive for mobile phone background pictures which were popular at the time. I eventually rejoined in July 2003 but “Logcom Solutions” went bust due to expanding too quickly. They eventually found a home with the landlord company who rented 4, Royal Mint Court (Tower Hill) who are Landmark Plc. From thereon they operate as Landmark Media. Ownership also changed: Apparently Mike Brophy (who was with All Action and BIG) is now majority shareholder.
